To cultivate students’ oral English proficiency, enhance narrative abilities, stage confidence, and international vision, the College of International Studies and Social Sciences (CISS) is excited to host the English Storytelling Competition! We invite you to share a personal object’s story and showcase your cross-cultural narrative skills for a chance to win generous cash prizes!
Eligibility & Categories
- Open to all currently enrolled CISS students (including undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and in-service graduate program students).
- Participants will be evaluated independently in two distinct categories: “Undergraduate Group” and “Postgraduate Group”.
Competition Format & Topics A dual-stage competition mechanism:
- Preliminary Round (Online Review): 【Topic】The Story Behind an Object
- Participants must submit a strict 3-minute video recorded in English along with a story abstract (under 300 words).
- You must appear on camera and clearly present a meaningful physical object connected to your story.
- Grand Final (Live Salon): 【Topic】Bridging the Gap
- Finalists will deliver a live 5-to-6-minute English presentation on site.
- Presentations should focus on profound journeys of bridging divides across cultural, societal, historical, or conceptual domains.
- Strict Single-File Policy: Slides must strictly contain visuals only (no text outlines) and all instrumental background music must be pre-embedded into a single presentation file.
Awards & Prizes
- Undergraduate Category: 1st Place NT$8,000; 2nd Place NT$5,000; 3rd Place NT$2,000 (plus a Certificate of Merit).
- Postgraduate Category (including MA/PhD): 1st Place NT$10,000; 2nd Place NT$6,000; 3rd Place NT$3,000 (plus a Certificate of Merit).
